Create invoices by voice or description
Turn a plain-English description — or a voice memo — into a complete invoice draft in seconds.
Open the draft tool
On the Invoices page, click the ✦ Draft button (next to + New Invoice). A modal will open with a text area and a microphone icon.
Type or speak your invoice
Either type a description in plain English, or tap the microphone icon to dictate. Speak naturally — it understands NZ context, dollar amounts, day rates, and project descriptions.
- Tap the mic button — your browser will ask for microphone permission once
- Speak: "Three days consulting for Acme Corp at 950 dollars a day, plus 200 for travel"
- Tap the stop button when finished
- The transcription appears in the text box — edit it if needed
- Click ✦ Generate Draft
Review and apply
PayWren extracts line items, quantities, rates, and client name. If it finds a client name that matches one in your workspace, it pre-selects them. Review the draft, then click Apply to Form to open the full invoice form pre-filled — you can adjust anything before saving.
Tip: Be specific about rates and quantities for best results. "Two days at $800" gives better output than "some design work".
Important: Always review the draft figures before sending. It's a time-saver, not a calculator replacement.
